About
Julie C. Hancock, Founder and Principal Attorney at Your Virtual Advocate, offers a uniquely creative and empathetic approach to legal services for creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Known for her responsiveness, practical insight, and imaginative problem-solving, Julie has built a trusted reputation in complex immigration law, copyright and trademark protection, and strategic business operations. Her mission is to support clients through intricate legal landscapes, particularly in the U.S. immigration field.
The journey of Your Virtual Advocate began in 2017 amid the challenges of the travel ban. Julie volunteered alongside lawyers worldwide to assist those impacted by immigration policy changes, an experience that solidified her commitment to social justice and advocacy. This dedication, coupled with her passion for music, the arts, and community-driven enterprises, inspired Julie to establish a law firm dedicated to accessible, customized legal support for artists, small businesses, and other creative professionals. Today, Your Virtual Advocate is a beacon for those seeking tailored, results-oriented legal services for the modern entrepreneur.
Julie’s expertise includes employment-based immigration for artists and skilled professionals (handling complex RFEs, NOIDs, and O-1, EB-1A, and NIW visas), as well as copyright, trademark, election law, and political strategy. Her active role in voter protection efforts and support of initiatives like Rock the Vote demonstrate her dedication to democracy and equal access to justice. She is known for her integrity, transparency, and compassionate approach.
In 2025, Julie’s practice will focus exclusively on U.S. immigration law to address the urgent needs of the immigration community. Her goal is to empower clients with knowledge and legal support to achieve their personal and professional goals in the United States.
Beyond her practice, Julie enjoys travel, exploring local cultures, and discovering new music scenes—always with a soft spot for dogs and local brews, especially Guinness. Whether mentoring attorneys or guiding clients through legal challenges, Julie’s dedication to advocacy, transparency, and innovation remains steadfast.

I believe in equal access to justice and the legal system.
This is why I became an attorney.
This is a driving force behind my business model of limited scope legal representation and the virtual law firm.
These two factors allow reduced fees and less burdensome methods to meet with an attorney, resolve legal matters, or get the help needed in self-representation.

My professional background is comprised of over 20 years of legal, compliance, managerial,
project and client relationship management experience. This background includes
in-house and law firm experience handling civil litigation cases, negotiating
and drafting agreements, handling licensing, privacy and data security matters,
advising on customer complaints and fraud investigations, analyzing complex
research, providing risk assessments, and managing teams.
I have managed talent as the director of a model and talent agency in Orlando and Los Angeles, facilitated corporate
partnerships for AFI FEST, and volunteered with civil rights organizations.
My exposure to a variety of business functions makes me well-suited to assist
small businesses with their legal challenges or risks.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Suffolk University in Boston in 2004.
I received my Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law in Orlando in 2012.
During law school, I studied international intellectual property law at University College Dublin
and received a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.
I was the Vice President of the American Constitution Society chapter at Barry Law.
I am licensed to practice law in Washington State.
Aside from my love of all things entertainment and law, I love to travel.
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and lived in Boston, Orlando, and Los Angeles.
My current second home is in Dingle, Ireland, where I've spent time this
past year getting to know and love the town and its people, and particularly
its traditions and artistic community.
Above all, I cherish loyalty, open communication and integrity. I always keep these traits in the
forefront of a business relationship, holding myself and others to high standards.
